The MemoryBox Ecosystem
MemoryBox is a distributed system designed to bridge the gap between different AI platforms. It consists of two primary parts working in tandem:- The Chrome Extension: Your “Capture” tool. It lives inside your browser and watches your conversations with ChatGPT and Gemini.
- The Desktop Application: Your “Brain.” It stores your data locally, provides search capabilities, and generates advanced insights.
The Memory Lifecycle
Understanding how data moves through the system is key to getting the most out of MemoryBox.Enrich & Sync (The Extension)
When you chat with an AI, the Chrome Extension bridges your local context to the web. By clicking the Blue Paper-Airplane, you “enrich” your current prompt with relevant memories from your database. Meanwhile, because Auto-sync is enabled by default, your interactions are automatically captured and saved to your local memory.
Storage (The Local Database)
The extension sends that data to the Desktop App via the Backend Link. Your memories are stored in a local directory on your machine (e.g., AppData or Application Support), ensuring your data stays private and under your control.
Context Injection (The Session)
When you start a new chat, you can select a Session from your library. MemoryBox “feeds” the relevant historical data back into the AI, allowing it to remember your previous steak preferences, project details, or coding standards.

No. MemoryBox is designed for local-first storage. Your “Backend Link” connects your browser to your own computer, not a remote server.

Yes! As long as the Desktop App is running, you can install the extension on any Chromium-based browser and they will all contribute to the same local “Brain.”
