The Assistant Orb is a floating icon that appears on the right side of your browser window whenever you are on a supported AI platform (ChatGPT or Gemini). It provides immediate, context-aware controls without requiring you to leave your chat session.
Interactive Controls
By hovering over the Orb, you reveal the Quick Sync Menu. This menu allows you to adjust how much data is being “remembered” in real-time.
Sync Toggles
These switches control the automatic flow of data to your Desktop App:
- Auto-sync user input: When enabled, every prompt you type is automatically mirrored to your local MemoryBox.
- Auto-sync AI response: When enabled, the AI’s full reply is captured alongside your prompt.
Manual Actions
If you prefer not to use “Auto-sync,” or if you want to ensure a specific part of a long thread is captured:
- Sync current chat: Clicking this button performs a one-time “catch-up” sync, pulling the current visible conversation into your memory database immediately.
Connection & Troubleshooting
Note on Connection States: The Assistant Orb remains visible even if the Desktop App is closed. It does not currently change color to indicate a disconnection.
To verify that the Orb is successfully communicating with your computer:
- Click the MemoryBox Icon in your Chrome Toolbar to open the Browser Action Pop-up.
- Look for the Backend Link status.
- If it is red/disconnected, the Orb’s sync actions will not be saved until the Desktop App is launched and the connection is restored.
Visibility & Positioning
If you find the Orb distracting or if it covers up important UI elements in your chat window:
- Repositioning: You can click and drag the Orb vertically to a different spot along the right margin of your browser.
- Disabling: To hide the Orb entirely, open the Browser Action Pop-up and toggle off “Show assistant button.”
When to use Manual Sync: Manual sync is perfect for users who want to be selective, only saving high-value technical discussions rather than every casual interaction.
