The Browser Action Pop-up is accessed by clicking the pinned MemoryBox icon in your Chrome toolbar. It acts as the “heartbeat” of the extension, showing you exactly how MemoryBox is communicating with your computer.
Connectivity & Status
At the top of the pop-up, you will find your current connection status. This is the first place to check if memories aren’t appearing in your Desktop App.
- Backend Link: This should display a green “Connected” status. This confirms the extension can “see” the MemoryBox Desktop Application running on your machine.
- Refresh Button: Located at the bottom of the interface, the Refresh button forces the extension to re-scan for the local backend. Use this after performing an Upgrade or if the status shows “Disconnected.”
Interface Settings
These toggles allow you to customize how MemoryBox appears within your AI chat windows (ChatGPT or Gemini).
| Setting | Function |
|---|
| Show assistant button | Toggles the floating “Orb” icon on the right side of your chat window. |
| Show session library | Enables the library selection interface on “New Chat” screens. |
| Auto-sync user input | Automatically captures your prompts as you send them. |
| Auto-sync AI response | Automatically captures the AI’s reply to your prompts. |
The footer of the pop-up contains essential data for support and updates:
- Current Version: Displays your installed version (e.g., v0.2.6). Ensure this matches the latest version mentioned in our Upgrade Guide.
- Environment: Confirms the active extension environment.
Troubleshooting Tip: If your Backend Link is red, ensure the MemoryBox Desktop App is open and active. The extension cannot save memories if the Desktop App is closed.
